Meet Our Team
Alicia Streicher Miller, LPCC
(She/Her/Hers)
I’m very open. I am adopted and my adopted family of origin was white and so were most of the people in our lives. As an adult, I’ve been intentional about being in more diverse settings. I’m in an interracial marriage with a black man and we have three daughters. That, coupled with being a transracial adoptee, has given me empathy and understanding for a wide variety of difficult interpersonal experiences.
My Story
I did the very ambiguous English major in undergrad and had a bunch of odd jobs post-college including nannying, working at a nonprofit, and even Starbucks. After experiencing my own personal crisis and years of therapy to process, heal, and gain personal insights, I realized if I could help someone like my therapist helped me, that would be not just a life worth living, but a calling with purpose.
My counseling style is non-judgmental, compassionate, empathetic, attuning, and present. My experience spans a variety of clients with various ethnic, cultural, and sexual identities; I work with clients with presenting issues of grief, anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, CSA, and co-dependency. I work with adults, teens (13+), and transracial adoptees.
I let the client determine their reason for seeing me and their treatment goals. I’m big on homework — worksheets, processing prompts, conversations to have and other exercises, and then reporting back on effectiveness. I am trauma informed and meet with clients with that framework in mind. I utilize CBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Solutions Focused modalities.
Initiating the therapeutic process is a significant step for anyone, and I understand the courage it takes to schedule that first appointment; know that I look forward to meeting with you and collaborating together.
