Nick Gomulinski, LISW-S

(He/Him/His/They)

My approach is free flowing, open and sometimes direct in a soft way. I want people not to feel stigmatized and to feel a little better each time they come in. I believe in positive connection, a relational dynamic and reciprocal bond. People need to be comfortable before they can trust.

My Story

I’m from Michigan, which is where I obtained both my undergrad and graduate degrees before moving to Ohio. I am currently on track to be a nurse practitioner (NP) while remaining passionate about and committed to counseling. I think the RN/NP experience has given me a unique lens to see the biological aspects of trauma, anxiety, depression, addictions and other issues in conjunction with the social aspects.

My experience includes work with adolescents and families, as well as nearly 8 years working in an all-male prison.

I believe the positive connection and constructive feedback between client and therapist is the foundation to successful treatment. To foster this, I lean on DBT, Internal Family Systems, and components of Play Therapy.

I’m intensively trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and informed in prolonged exposure (DBT-PE). Sessions with me will have some structure but it’s not rigid, we can flow freely as needed. I’m always open to feedback on how I can improve as a therapist. That’s kind of the beginning and the end — “What can I do better?”
