Meet Our Team

(She/Her/Hers)

I’ve always felt like I’ve had the best clients. I get to work with people that I really respect and feel connected to. On top of that, I get to help them with some really tough stuff sometimes. The resiliency of folks blows me away. Over the years, I have seen the worst of human nature through my clients’ eyes & experiences. Through our work together I believe I experience the best of human nature through them. I’m lucky in that way.

My Story

I was born in Rudolph, Ohio to immigrant parents from Holland. I got a real taste of what it’s like to feel alienated and like I didn’t belong. I graduated with a degree in Psychology at age 20 and moved to Columbus. I worked in the community mental health system for 20 years and met Kevin Hamm during my tenure as a crisis intervention worker. I went into private practice where he was working and the two of us ultimately took over the practice in 2019.

My areas of expertise include treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), anxiety disorders, trauma disorders, depressive disorders, adjustment and relationship issues and coping skill development.

In my work with adults, I take a client-centered approach that’s direct, non-judgmental, authentic and empathetic. I really love my clients — as soon as they walk in my door, they’re in my tribe. Being the child of immigrants has given me a better understanding of “outsider” status and makes me very interested in other cultures, rituals, history, etc.

I am so interested in a client’s story — it’s a process to peel the onion and get those layers before we really begin. I want to walk in their shoes as much as I can.
