Meet Our Team
Madie Ritter, LPC
(She/Her/Hers)
I am a firm believer in the power of slowing down and being kinder to yourself. Our sessions together will be less about “fixing” and more about noticing- what you’re feeling, what you need, and how to offer yourself grace through it all. We’ll work together to identify the changes you’d like to make, gradual steps to get there, and how to support yourself in a compassionate way throughout.
My Story
My passion for mental health counseling blossomed out of my own painful personal experiences in school, from being bullied from a young age, to excluded and ostracized as a teen, to betrayed and cut off in college. After these painful experiences, I worked with a therapist who helped me find immense healing and relief. From this moment forward, I developed a deep desire to help foster and encourage a similar sense of relief in others.
From here I went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northern Kentucky University. After graduating in 2022, I began working with a private practice located in Downtown Cincinnati. My passion for the field has only grown stronger as I continue to gain experience and engage in meaningful work with clients. I have been practicing for about three years now, working with young to middle aged adults in rural and urban areas on a wide variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, bipolar disorder, life transitions, and PTSD.
I take an integrative approach to therapy, making an effort to meet the client where they are, and provide tools and resources best suited for their life circumstances. My approach to therapy is person-centered, rooted in mindful self-compassion, and trauma-informed. I draw from elements of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems), and polyvagal theory. I also incorporate somatic embodiment interventions to allow clients to explore the mind-body connection and help restore a sense of felt safety. I am dedicated to creating a safe space for LGBTQIA+ folks as well as people of the global majority. I have worked with folks as young as 12 and as old as 65, but most of the individuals I work with are young to middle aged adults.
I aim to create a transparent, empathetic, judgement-free environment. I am deeply passionate about creating a therapy environment that is collaborative and allows the client to be an active participant in creating their treatment goals and plans. It warms my heart when this environment enables clients be able to take back their power, recognize their strengths, and foster a more compassionate relationship with themselves. If you’re ready to discover what healing means for you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
